Colorado Garden Show, Inc. Awards Grants to Organizations Throughout Colorado
In the past 23 years, organizations throughout Colorado have received grants totaling over $4,000,000 from Colorado Garden Show, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to furthering the horticultural industry.
Colorado Garden Show, Inc. also produces the Colorado Garden & Home Show, the state's oldest and most restigious garden and home show which attracts more than 60,000 visitors annually.
Each year, money raised from the Show supports horticultural and related activities throughout Colorado. The Grant program funds tree and plant material purchases, school landscape improvements, community gardens, and educational and research programs with organizations throughout Colorado.
The Colorado Garden Show, Inc. also supports college students with scholarships who are studying floriculture, horticultural science and business, nursery management, turf grass management, landscape design or landscape management. These students also plan to continue working in the field in Colorado upon graduation.
Since its inception, Colorado Garden Show, Inc. has used much of its Show proceeds to support a variety of research in horticulture and related fields being conducted by Colorado State University's College of Agriculture. Additionally, the Show has helped underwrite the research work of various individuals, plant societies and the Denver Botanic Gardens. These funds have helped publish new findings, purchase research equipment and to build and maintain trial and display gardens throughout the state.
In the past, the Colorado Garden & Home Show has been a major contributor to a variety of recognized programs throughout Colorado. For example, proceeds from the Show have supported the construction and expansion of the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail; various projects at The Denver Botanic Gardens such as The Morrison Center; the Historic Rose Garden at the new Hudson Gardens in Littleton; and improvements at the Western Colorado Botanical Society's "Weddle Native Colorado Garden" in Grand Junction.
In addition, the Show has underwritten the cost of training volunteer Master Gardeners to aid Colorado State University's Cooperative Extension Service. These Master Gardeners, in exchange for their training, have donated thousands of hours annually assisting extension agents in staffing offices and answering garden-related questions from homeowners.
Each year, proceeds from the Colorado Garden & Home Show also help cities and organizations plant trees, support improvements in many communities throughout the state, support the work of garden clubs, and help to underwrite the publication of educational brochures.
